Oak Veneer Internal Doors
Just Right for Your Home!
How Are They Made?
Oak Veneer Internal Doors are modern engineered doors combine the efficiency of up to date production techniques with a versatility of design styles demanded by today’s homeowners. The core of the door is made up in a variety of ways using particleboard, and both hard and soft wood blocks. So-called ‘lippings’ are then added around all edges to provide a solid trimmable edge for adjustments during fitting. Then we lay a veneer of the chosen timber over the whole assembly to give the finished product its final aesthetic appeal.
What Are the Benefits?
Homeowners demand a wide variety of different, affordable prices and in various matching formats. Current Building regulations also demand that sturdier Fire Doors are installed in some circumstances to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through a property. If you compare modern solid engineered oak veneer internal doors with doors as they used to be made from solid timbers, there is no comparison. Modern engineered doors win hands down on style choice, price and versatility. Engineered doors also perform much better in terms of resisting warping, splitting and shrinking or expansion in changes in temperature and humidity. Our doors are solid, having the required weight and feel and at the same time are stylish, versatile and affordable.
Your Choice of Veneer
Oak veneer is one of the most popular styles of door finishing. Other finishes are available such as pine, walnut, grey and black. Oak veneer remains the most popular choice. This is possibly due to its versatility and suitability for most styles of door. This includes classic and period, 1930’s and a wide choice of contemporary styles. Also, everyone knows that an oak finish has a depth and warmth and is recognised to give a feeling of luxury, comfort and success.

Types of Door
Within each range you will find standard doors, fire doors and in most cases a matching glazed variant too. With some designs there is also a bi-fold option, useful in those tight areas around the home.
These are 35mm thick and are solid with usually a particleboard engineered core. They have a 10mm lipping of solid white oak around all sides for trimming to size. Available in all the standard U.K. widths of 27”, 30” and 33”. Also, some other widths are available from stock. If you can’t find the exact dimensions you need ask about our bespoke sizing service. Standard doors are for use in all normal situations where a Fire Door has not been specified. Bi-fold doors also have a ‘standard’ construction.
FD30 Fire Doors
Fire doors are 44mm thick and have a solid core of hardwood blocks. They have two layers of solid hardwood lippings around the edges. This engineered construction is designed to withstand flames for a longer period to prevent the spread of fire through a property. Building control specifies certain instances where they must be used. Further, it just makes sense to install fire doors to any room where there is a source of open flame. For example, the hob in the kitchen, an open fire or stove in the living room, wherever the boiler is housed and from the house through into the garage. Fire doors must be installed correctly-see our help and advice section for further guidance.
A door engineered in the same way as a standard oak veneer internal door but with a proportion of the solid panels replaced with safety glass. These doors are the answer if you need a bit sunshine in your life. Small rooms often have little natural light and hallways and landings are notoriously dark. Glazed doors let the brightness shine through! Look out for certain ranges where there are even glazed FD30 fire doors.
