Installation

The installation of the Deanta Kingston Unfinished Oak FD30 Fire Door is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward. Regarding storage and acclimatisation; your doors must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, flat and level surface in your home for at least 7 days prior to installation. Please do not store your doors in a freshly plastered room or in an unheated shed or garage.

The door is Un-finished meaning it is supplied without any treatment to the veneer. The recommended treatments are varnish, lacquer or Osmo oil. Whatever product you choose make sure to use a fine sandpaper to remove any fine 'hairs' or roughened grain patches before your first coat. Ensure that any new door frame is square and plumb before installation for optimal fit and function. One big advantage with Deanta doors is their very generous trimming allowance. This Deanta door can be trimmed by up to 15mm from each edge, that is 15mm each from the top and bottom and left and right.

This makes it ideal if you have an existing awkward shaped doorway. If you are unsure about fitting, consider seeking assistance from a professional. Please see the table below for the maximum trimming allowances for this door.

For hinge installation, you must use a minimum of three, 4 (four inch) CE or UKCA marked fire door hinges which conform to BS EN 1935. Three 4 hinges will support the weight of the door, prevent warping and conform to the regulations on fire door installation.

It is essential to comply with local fire regulations if you are installing in areas requiring fire-rated doors. For fire doors, the door frame must also have intumescent strips fitted. Deanta Fire Door Frames have these pre-fitted.
