Installation

The installation of the XL Joinery Palermo Original Oak Internal Door is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward. Regarding storage and acclimatisation; your doors must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, flat and level surface in your home for at least 7 days prior to installation. Please do not store your doors in a freshly plastered room or in an unheated shed or garage.

The door is Un-finished meaning it is supplied without any treatment to the veneer. The recommended treatments are varnish, lacquer or Osmo oil. Whatever product you choose make sure to use a fine sandpaper to remove any fine 'hairs' or roughened grain patches before your first coat. Ensure that any new door frame is square and plumb before installation for optimal fit and function. All quality timber doors have a solid lipping around the edge.

This allows the doors to be trimmed or planed in order to make up for slight variations in the dimensions of the door frame. Trimming allowances vary from door to door. If you are unsure about fitting, consider seeking assistance from a professional. Please see the table below for the maximum trimming allowances for this door.

For hinge installation, we recommend using a minimum of three, 3" (three inch) quality hinges conforming to BS EN 1935. Three hinges will support the weight of the door and prevent warping.

It is essential to comply with local fire regulations if you are installing in areas requiring fire-rated doors.

A signature is required for all deliveries so there must be someone at the delivery address from 8:00 am through to 7:00 pm to accept the delivery. An approximate delivery timescale wherever possible will be given beforehand.

Any delivery damage must be reported within 48 hours, by email, with supporting images. Otherwise, no exchanges or refunds can be considered.

We cannot deliver to Eire, the Channel Islands, Scottish Islands, Isle of Mann or Isle of Wight. However we can deliver to
a freight forwarder of your choice with advance agreement, please contact us to arrange this.

Returns Policy

A. Returns

You have a 14 day “cooling off” period during which you can notify us you wish to return your purchase to us. The products must then be received back at our applicable supplier's location within a further 14 days.

Simply send us an email to enquiries@onlinedoorstore.co.uk giving details of your order and what you would like to return. We will then contact you to arrange collection, exchange and/or refund.

Items for return must be fully intact, in good condition and in their complete original packaging.

Our collection charges are £48 for the first door and £10 each for any extra doors.

B. Products Damaged on Delivery

If an item is damaged when it is delivered to you, you should write ‘damaged on delivery’ on the driver’s Proof of Delivery form or hand held device and send the item back with the driver. You should then contact us immediately and we will arrange for replacement or refund.

In any event you should inspect all items within 48 hours of delivery. Claims for damages should be made within this 48-hour period. Any damage should be photographed and reported immediately with your order number by email to enquiries@onlinedoorstore.co.uk. 

C. Refunds (if applicable)

Once your return is received it will be inspected by our supplier and we will notify you of any comments from them and arrange for exchange or refund.

Please note refunds will not include the delivery and collection charges for ‘un-wanted items’. If the product is proven to have been damaged on arrival, the refund will include the delivery charge

D. Bespoke orders

Please note, special sized items manufactured for you under our Bespoke service are excluded from this returns policy and cannot be returned or refunded.

E. Return Shipping Yourself

You may choose to return ship an item yourself. In this case, please contact us and we will notify you of the supplier’s address to return the item to. Please use a trackable, insured shipping service. The items must be returned to our suppliers within 14 days of you notifying us of your wish to return them yourself.
