Installation

The installation of the XL Joinery Salerno White Primed FD30 Fire Door is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward. Regarding storage and acclimatisation; your doors must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, flat and level surface in your home for at least 7 days prior to installation. Please do not store your doors in a freshly plastered room or in an unheated shed or garage.

The door is Primed, meaning it is supplied with a factory applied base primer. The door will usually require further final decoration. One to two coats of your chosen finish will be needed.

Whatever product you choose, make sure to use a fine sandpaper to remove any excess primer or roughened surface patches before your first coat. Dark final colours will require a first coat with a dark primer. Ensure that any new door frame is square and plumb before installation for optimal fit and function. All quality timber doors have a solid lipping around the edge.

This allows the doors to be trimmed or planed in order to make up for slight variations in the dimensions of the door frame. Trimming allowances vary from door to door. If you are unsure about fitting, consider seeking assistance from a professional. Please see the table below for the maximum trimming allowances for this door.

For hinge installation, you must use a minimum of three, 4" (four inch) CE or UKCA marked fire door hinges which conform to BS EN 1935. Three 4" hinges will support the weight of the door, prevent warping and conform to the regulations on fire door installation.

It is essential to comply with local fire regulations if you are installing in areas requiring fire-rated doors. For fire doors, the door frame must also have intumescent strips fitted. Deanta Fire Door Frames have these pre-fitted.
