Always choose the correct type of accessory for your new doors, ensuring you choose fire door frames, handles and hinges for fire doors, and standard accessories for standard doors.

Frames; always ensure that any new door frame is square and plumb before installation for optimal fit and function. For existing doorways use the lipping around the edge of the doors to trim or plane gradually in order to make up for slight variations in the dimensions of the door frame. Trimming allowances vary from door to door. Please see the maximum trimming allowance table given for each door on the description tab on the product page.

Fire doors must always be installed in a frame fitted with intumescent strips.

Hinge Installation; we recommend using a minimum of three, 3" (three inch) quality hinges conforming to BS EN 1935 for standard doors. For fire doors please use a minimum of three, 4" (four inch) quality fire door hinges conforming to BS EN 1935. Three hinges will support the weight of the door and prevent warping. Please note it is essential to comply with local fire regulations if you are installing in areas requiring fire-rated doors.

Handles; you can purchase separate handles and hinges or you can get them in handy kit packs. Remember you need a fire door pack for fire doors and a standard pack for standard doors. There are many styles and grades of handle, browse our pages for the perfect match for you and your door.
