Installation

The installation of the Mendes 1930's Un-Finished Oak 4 Panel FD30 Fire Door is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward. Regarding storage and acclimatisation; your doors must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, flat and level surface in your home for at least 7 days prior to installation. Please do not store your doors in a freshly plastered room or in an unheated shed or garage.

The door is Un-finished meaning it is supplied without any treatment to the veneer. The recommended treatments are varnish, lacquer or Osmo oil. Whatever product you choose make sure to use a fine sandpaper to remove any fine hairs or roughened grain patches before your first coat. Ensure that any new door frame is square and plumb before installation for optimal fit and function. All quality timber doors have a solid lipping around the edge.

For hinge installation, you must use a minimum of three, 4" (four inch) CE or UKCA marked fire door hinges which conform to BS EN 1935. Three 4" hinges will support the weight of the door, prevent warping and conform to the regulations on fire door installation.

It is essential to comply with local fire regulations if you are installing in areas requiring fire-rated doors. For fire doors, the door frame must also have intumescent strips fitted. Deanta Fire Door Frames have these pre-fitted.
